Past Events: RAF Hamworthy 70th Anniversary

2012 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of RAF Hamworthy and from 7th-14th November 2011 PFBC held an Exhibition of flying boat activities at Hamworthy Library, Blandford Road.

On Wednesday 9th November (from 10.00am til 4.00pm) members of the Poole Flying Boats Celebration team were in attendance to meet and chat with residents who have memories of the flying boat era.

The day was enhanced by a visit from the Mayor (Cllr Graham Wilson) and Mayoress (Mrs Sally Wilson), and Councillor Judy Butt.  The event was voted a great success by all and 13 new Friends were signed up to the charity!  

PFBC are very grateful to the staff of Hamworthy Library, and hope to use their facilities for future events.

Eventually - as a result of discussions with residents – it is hoped that permanent information boards depicting local flying boat information will be drawn up and positioned at significant points along Hamworthy's shoreline.
