Past Events: Flying Fish’n’Chip Supper

A full house gathered on the 17th September at the Lilliput Sailing Club, anticipating another memorable evening of PFBC celebration, and those assembled were richly rewarded by a superb event.
We were again greeted by a tranquil scene over Blue Lagoon which was viewed by arrivees looking out from the balcony...
A feast of fish’n’chips, followed by mouth-
Amongst these was Pam Stickland (nee Pym) who joined IAL staff in their offices at the Pottery building as a telex operator, and Judith Dutch one of the daughters of Capt. Lewis Carey (who penned the first history of the Flying Boats at Poole).
Next it was the turn for Colin Pomeroy to take centre stage: Colin delivered an entertaining
and well-
These were expertly interwoven with histories of other sites associated with the Weymouth area, e.g. Portland and The Fleet!
He skilfully related much to a wider picture including Poole -
Also, tempting with ref. to his ‘The Flying Boats of Bermuda’, which alongside ‘Wings
over Weymouth’ is one of the dozen titles he has successfully completed -
Then he gave fascinating insight into his 20 years in the RAF, especially on 203
Sqn as Squadron Leader at RAF Luqa, Malta and his time in the Med. during 1969-
